Now that the holidays are upon us, it’s time for your Elf on a Shelf to come and visit! And, what’s more fun than some new fashions for your Elf? We’ve decided to make our Elf Olivia a simple circle skirt. It’s very similar to the diy poodle skirt we made for Halloween. On our 7 Best Elf on a Shelf Ideas post we mentioned that Olivia is getting a new friend. Well, she now has one! Any guesses as to what it’s named? Stay tuned for the revealing of her new Elf on the Shelf friend wearing a coordinating fashion with a diy tutorial to follow. It’s going to be double the trouble, but lots of fun!
DIY Elf on the Shelf Skirt
Elf on the Shelf Skirt How to:
Materials:
- Fabric, fat quarter or fabric scrap
- Braided elastic, white
- Sewing machine
- Scissors
- Sharpie or fabric marker
Step 1: Turn fabric print side down. Trace around a bowl with a 6″ diameter onto the fabric. You can use either a sharpie or fabric marker.
Step 2: Use a ruler to find the center of the circle, which would be at 3 inches. Trace another object with a 1-3/4 inch diameter.
Step 3: Using scissors trim along the circles you just traced. Don’t forget to cut both.
Step 4: Hem the outside of the skirt.
Step 5: Measure the elf’s waist to get the correct length of elastic. Leave approximately 1/8″ overlap. Sew the overlap together. Make sure you use white thread.
Step 6: Turn fabric circle inside out and pin to the elastic waist band. Sew the fabric to the waist band. Remove the pins.
Voila! Easy, right?! Stay tuned for a matching accessory to go with our newest Elf addition.
