We are always looking for new movies with messages that are meaningful. The new movie Wraith sounds like it’ll make one think; but it’s also about supernatural forces so it seems like it might give one goosebumps, too. WRAITH is a supernatural thriller that explores the story of a family who invites evil (covering eyes) into their home after they decide they may not go forward with an unplanned pregnancy. The film is meant to remind us that God always protects and provides, and that protecting life is always the right choice.
Wraith is available on all VOD platforms and Blu-ray/DVD May 8th!
I certainly don’t have any supernatural stories to tell. Or maybe I do. When I was half way through my 4th pregnancy an anatomy ultrasound revealed that I was carrying not just one baby, but two. The babies were presenting in a way that was dangerous. They shared a placenta, and didn’t have a dividing membrane or in other words, the babies didn’t have their own amniotic sacs. So, the doctor told us that the risk was very high that their umbilical cords could get tangled up, compressed, and cause death to one or both of the babies. We were presented with the option of aborting the pregnancy at this time since they only had a “50% chance of surviving anyway”.
My husband and I were shocked by the option presented to us to abort our babies at 20 weeks. Of course we would have never considered it, but that doesn’t mean the alternative was easy. I decided to go inpatient for continuous monitoring of the babies at 24 weeks gestation which is what research had proven offered the best possible outcome for babies like ours. We came close to losing them at 25 weeks gestation, but we fought hard for those little lives.
Now, 12 years on, we are so thankful for the tender mercies that we were extended while our small family did all we could to grow our babies and keep them alive. Every life is precious, and we are so thankful for the two little babies that completed our family and arrived at 33 weeks gestation.
Have you ever had to protect a life?
About the movie, WRAITH:
“Wraith explores the super-natural story of a family who invites evil into their home after they decide they may not go forward with an unplanned pregnancy. Sajbel, who previously directed One Night With the King based on the Biblical story of Esther was raised Catholic, wanted to present a story about protecting the most innocent of life. “Growing up in a household rooted in God was my biggest influence when I decided to become a filmmaker. On my application to film school at UCLA, when I filled out the forms there was one question in particular that asked, “Why do you want to go to our film school?” I thought I’d put God to the test and put down that I wanted to make films that honor Jesus Christ and spread the gospel throughout the world.” He was accepted which began his journey into filmmaking.
When it came to the sensitive subject about pro-life, he wanted a different take by creating a supernatural-thriller. Sajbel, who is a father of three adopted children, believes in the sanctity of all life. “I had not seen a film about this subject matter presented this way and wanted audiences to have fun with a little twist but to also incorporate a very important message about valuing all life no matter how complicated it can get. We see the Lukens couple struggle with this decision about whether they can afford another child and Mrs. Lukens age and how there could be medical complications and her overall concerns with having a baby at her age. I wanted to convey that no matter what – God provides and the value of protecting an innocent life. Wraith gives us a chance to present this important message in a very unique way.”
